We offer NHS treatment free to all patients younger than 18 years old, provided they demonstrate a clinical need for treatment. We assess every child’s clinical need for treatment during an assessment using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) which is a rating system comprised of:

Treatment for Children

The dental health component is calculated using an objective set of measurements to give your smile a grade of between 1 and 5:

The aesthetic component; if you receive a dental health grade of 3, we will then look at the appearance of your smile and give you a second score of between 1 and 10 using a set of ten images as a reference point. If you are given an aesthetic score of 6 or above, combined with a dental health score of 3, you will be eligible for NHS treatment.

• NHS Orthodontic treatment is free for qualifying patients under 18 years. • One full set of removable retainers are supplied at the end of treatment free of charge. • Replacement retainers are chargeable in line with NHS regulations. • 1 year after completion of treatment, further appointments or treatment will not be covered by the NHS.
